The comedians
included in Our Litter appear regularly at Comedy Dawgs. Regardless
of how many years on stage, these comedians have they all share a true
passion for their craft.
If you are
looking for a biography on a specific comedian please use the trusty links
below to expediate your search (obviously - we suggest the old fashion
way, scroll down through the entire page and read about all our dawgs)!

The
"Top Dawg", Paul Ash is an experienced comedian originally from Porter's
Lake, Nova Scotia. He left his home province to pursue comedy in Toronto,
eventually working most all the stages available to him there as well
as working for SFA productions, producers of Comedy Now. Accidentally
moving to Quebec, Paul became a fixture on the Montreal comedy scene and
was referred to by the Hour as "…the encyclopedia of funny." Paul became
the director of talent development at Ernie Butler's Comedy Nest, assistant
to the writer for Whalley Abbey (Debbie Travis' company), as well a permanent
employee of Festival Just For Laughs. Meeting and marrying a wonderful
Montreal woman, Paul made Montreal his home. His wife had other ideas…
She fell in love with Halifax (during their visits) and moved them here.
Halifax comedy is most grateful.

Originally
from New Brunswick, Andrew came to Halifax via Montreal (where he met
Ash) after a tour of the United States. As a touring stand-up comedian,
Andrew has appeared in the Just for Laughs Festival, where he was introduced
to the agent that would one day get him credited for acting in the worst
“A” movie ever made, Battlefield Earth.

A
Torontonian now transplanted to Bridgewater, Liam has a pedigree in sketch
and improv comedy having been a founder of “Indoor Recess”
and “Recess Pieces” as well as a member of the prestigious
Second City Touring Group. His likeability and penchant for dark material
has endeared him to Halifax audiences.

Paul
was a member of the popular St. John's based comedy troupe Cat Fud with
Mark Critch, Chad House, and Greg Rex. Following a string of acclaimed
self produced shows and appearances on CBC TV, CBC Radio's Madly Off In
All Directions, and the makeshift stage at Her Majesty's Penitentiary,
the troupe disbanded in 1997 to attempt maturity. After returning home
to Canada in 2001, Paul decided to start performing again and wrote and
performed three one man sketch comedy shows, including the Fringe Hits
"A Canadian Idle"(2003) and "Another Night on George Street" (2004). Paul
can be seen regularly performing standup comedy in Halifax with the Comedy
Dawgs. Paul's return to performing has led to recent appearances on CBC's
Madly Off In All Directions, CBC's Stand and Deliver, and, every Newfoundlander's
dream, a Nova Scotia Tourism television commercial."
Want
more information? We've got good news for you... since he's an Alpha Dawg
you can read an extended biography about him!

A
grandmother from Dartmouth, Bev is the heart of the Comedy Dawgs. Bev's
sweet demeanor and brutally honest comedy comes from someone obviously
in love with life. A few years ago Bev had a near fatal heart attack,
and while laying on her back, looking at life through a respirator she
counted all the things in life she wished she had done. Comedy amoung
them, she's been checking things off that list ever since. Now if only
she could get Enrique Iglesias in a pool of whipped cream!

An
entertainment lawyer and Yuk Yuk’s comic from Edmonton Tom has recently
made Halifax his home. Clever writing, personable style are his hallmarks
and a great addition to any Comedy Dawg show he participates in.

Winner
of the very first Comedy Dawgs College Comedy Challenge Cup (someone told
us C words were funny). A man of wit and mystery he just graduated from
Dalhousie but also wears an (Saint F) X ring. His clever writing and unassuming
stage presence make him a genuine treat to watch.

Nick
has been on the Comedy Dawgs stage since August of 2005 when he realized
that stand-up comedy was more accessible than he had previously thought.
Having watched a handful of Dawgs shows, he decided to try his hand at
cunning linguistics. With his brand of irreverent and offbeat humour,
Nick packs a verbal punch. From everyday observations to the not-so-common
ones, you’re in for entertainment and education; comedy and commentary;
and of course, the beat and the punchline… at the saaaaaaaaame time.

Since
he was 8 years old he was always dreaming about being in comedy. This
Dawg is only 21 years of age & has done a lot in the entertainment
industry including a radio DJ for the defunct CHCN radio station and has
been a wresting referee known to many as “Montgomery Hodges”.

The
Cole Harbour Martha Stewart, a brain damaged former world class swimmer,
"the scorpion" or the
craziest thing you ever saw. You'll have to make up your mind, or be left
very very confused - but always amused. Seriously, his dad is a pirate!

His
first time onstage garnered him second place in our first ever Comedy
Dawgs College Comedy Challenge Cup (someone told us C words were funny)
and he’s continued to grow. Someone to see more of in the near future!

Davey
(Kemp) has been the host/producer of CKDU's "The Comedy Spot"
and a long time supporter of the Comedy Dawgs! Armed with a quick wit
and a bitter tongue Davey avoids abusing anyone... but himself. A native
of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, he's spent most of his life popping between
Dartmouth and Toronto.
One common realization has followed him where ever he lived: "Being
a bachelor sucks - unless you have the right perspective." His goal
is to perform at Carnagie Hall, if heart and will power is what it takes,
then he shall!

Matt
"Gudger Brown" Gudger - many years ago, Gudger helped Ash form
the “Laff Network” just before Paul left for Toronto. Now
that Ash has been back and the Comedy Dawgs have reached the two year
mark, Matt just found out that comedy once again is on in Halifax…
And he has a thirst for it.

Having
kicked around the Halifax Comedy, even before there was one to speak of,
Joey has just recently taken the plunge to perform. As a writer for several
other performers and tied to a local radio station, in a way he doesn’t
want shared (sounds S&M), it’s nice to see him finally in the
spotlight!

Cheryl
is a Newfoundland immigrant who got into comedy on the advice of someone
who once said she reminded them of a young Gilda Radner (greatest compliment
of all time). She enjoys long walks on the beach and all that other kind
of crap that goes into these things...Goals include becoming a famous
writer, SNL cast member, and astronaut/cowboy. What does the future hold
for Cheryl? Probably sex, drugs and rock and roll....minus the drugs...and
probably the sex...

Steve
grew up in Lantz. Living the arduous daily routine of the unemployed,
Steve travels from Stewiake to Halifax on the mission to make people,
who he doesn't even know, laugh. Steve desires to be an entertainer, in
some way, shape or form, most desirably before he leaves this planet.
"Without laughter there would be no peace and happiness in the world,
so it is my daily duty to make as many people as possible laugh." Hopefully
the UFO's will wait awhile before coming for Steve Miller.

Corey
resides in Eastern Passage. He had a choice to settle anywhere in the
world and he felt the Passage was the best place to raise his eldest stuffed
teddy bear, "Rhino". Corey has performed stand-up on various stages throughout
Halifax and also wrote sketches for and co-hosted the Comedy Connection
Radio Show. Corey has also written, directed and performed in no less
then five short comedic films, and, in 2002, he saw his first comedic
play appear at The Halifax Fringe Festival. Corey has been a busy man.

to be updated website is: www.cjpoirier.com

A
former associate advisor with a top brokerage firm, Kathryn realized that
in the crazy, unstable world of business where she made a tonne of cash...
she needed something more. She needed a back up plan. Sensing the lucrative
nature of the Canadian comedy scene she chucked it all to become a writer
and sometime stand-up comic. Kathryn has recently dyed her hair blonde
to match her lifestyle.

One
of our new faces. Besides being a professional writer, and radio personality,
Gareth has easily the hardest to spell name with the Comedy Dawgs. "And
you pronounce that Marr?" Gareth's sets are peppered with the news of
the week, intelligent and accessible. A treat to watch.

Rhys
Bevan-John was raised in Dartmouth and as a result likes to romanticize
that Bruce Springsteen would really 'get' him. From the ages of 10-22
he worked with the Neptune Theatre School where he was a student, teacher
and twice toured all over Nova Scotia Schools with the Neptune Young Company.
For the last five years Rhys performed improv on a weekly basis with the
Improv as well as recently tried his hand at stand-up with the Comedy
Dawgs. Rhys recently spent six months in Maine apprenticing Jest in Time's
mentor, the late great mime Tony Montanaro, as well as travelling to Europe
with the sketch troop "The Hen Men." www.henmen.com. Rhys knows he'll
be performing until he's dead and hopes that he remains half as lucky
as he's been up to now with it all.
His website

Candy
is a recovered lawyer who enjoys poking fun at her former profession.
She also capitalizes on her Mi'kmaq culture by poking fun at white folk
("I'm not prejudice, my mom is white!!") and spoofing some of
the absurd stereotypes society has about Aboriginal people. She is a veteran
of the Ha! Fest and can be heard on XM radio station, Laugh Attack. Candy
is highly sought after as a corporate comic, but can also take you to
the edge with her brash, sexual commentary. Don't miss your chance to
see The Candy Show in action!!
Her website
is: www.thecandyshow.com

His
first time on stage has made us all go wow! We can’t wait to see
more of this young man.
